Community Center

Violet Township has hired Moody Nolan and Rockmill Financial to complete a feasibility study and potential funding options to construct and operate a new community center.  This study is motivated by the results of a statistically valid 2016 recreation and leisure survey that indicates strong support for a new community center. A series of public meetings and focus group meetings will be conducted over the next several months to help the consultants identify recommendations for the size of the community center; the types of activities to be included in it; and the options for funding the construction and operation of the community center. Our goal is to continue to work with our residents to determine the feasibility and funding and present it to the voters to make the final decision to move forward with the construction of a community center.

logosThe Violet Township Trustees have voted to place a 4.6 mil – 25 year Parks and Recreation Levy on the May 7, 2019 ballot.  This levy would allow the township to finance the construction of a $46 million community center over a 25 year period and provide $2 million annually for operations along with $210,000 for annual capital replacement.  The details of the proposed community center, including preliminary first and second floor plans and site diagrams, can be found at the links below.

This proposed tax levy, based upon the 2019 Estimated Property Tax Valuation, will be $13.39 monthly per $100,000 home (based upon the Fairfield County Auditor’s appraised value).  It should be noted that the Fairfield County’s appraised value is the value of a home through the lens of the Fairfield County Auditor.  This value is often lower than the market value of a home.

Violet Township’s financial consultant has prepared a “tax calculator” to help residents estimate the monthly cost of the proposed community center.  This calculator can be found at this link: You can search by address or owner and it will calculate the estimated monthly cost based upon the property tax data provided by the Fairfield County Auditor as of February 20, 2019.
